The Historic Theatre

Welcome to March!
With March comes the hope of Spring with the bulk of the chills of winter behind us. There is an old building which is now moving towards the springtime of its existence: The Historic Academy Theatre. Its home is downtown Lynchburg, right on Main st. This gem of ages past is currently being renovated and restored to its former glory enabling her to ascend to new heights. This building which opened in the early 1900’s, endured fires, floods, and abandonment until the Friends of The Academy stood in the gap to bring the winter of this great theater’s life to a close and ensure an everlasting spring for many generations to come to enjoy. These photos are just a sample of the pictures taken yesterday of this delicately broken beauty.
